California Health Insurance Plans

JC Lewis offers California health insurance plans only from leading health insurance carriers licensed to do business in California. We are licensed and certified by each carrier to offer coverage to individuals, families, small group employers (1-50 employees) and to seniors with Medicare supplemental and prescription drug plans.

If your employer doesn’t provide health benefits, an individual or family plan may be the best option for you and/or your family. Thanks to the Affordable Care Act (ACA) you can no longer be denied health insurance coverage due to a pre-existing health condition and you can’t be denied benefits due to pre-existing exclusion periods.

Although there are many new benefits associated with the ACA, some new areas of concern have emerged that you may not be aware of. In some cases provider networks are a fraction of what they used to be making it difficult for long time members of one health plan to continue treatment with their existing physicians on a new plan. It’s very important that you verify with your physicians and medical facilities before enrolling into a individual and family plan. You may also use our Find a Provider directory or call us for assistance.

California health insurance plans are now categorized as “on-exchange” versus “off-exchange.” Buying a plan on-exchange refers to buying a plan directly through your state or federal government exchange (i.e. Covered California). Purchasing a plan off-exchange refers to enrolling in a plan directly through an insurance carrier. You may qualify for premium assistance based on your annual modified adjusted gross income (MAGI) and only receive premium assistance when buying a plan on-exchange.
