Choosing the right Medicare Part D Plan for each drug regimen

pill bottle with pillsThe annual Medicare Part D Prescription Drug open enrollment period starts Nov. 15, through Dec. 31, and is the only opportunity for you to change or delete coverage for the coming year. Plan availability, covered drugs, costs and benefits change as can a persons’ health requiring a change in drug regimen…so it’s prudent to review each year at this time.

The difficulty of choosing the right plan for each specific regimen is illustrated by the fact there are presently 51 Medicare Part D (RX) Plans offered in California. In October we will be advised of the changes in their 2010 Plans. It’s a pretty sure bet…the 2010 Plans will cost more, have higher co-pays and cause you to have greater out-of-pocket expense.

To be certain you continue to get the Right Coverage at the Right Price, we recommend you complete the prescription worksheet on the reverse side, return it in the envelope provided and allow us to review your needs against the various plans available. We will provide you with our analysis of each drug and your cost for the coming year with our recommendation to stay with your current plan or show you one more options suitable to your specific needs for 2010.

Insurance premiums are the same whether you buy direct from the carrier, an insurance agent or buy on-line. As the ACCMA endorsed broker, we provide knowledgeable guidance for plans with all major carriers and have the expertise to evaluate your needs and recommend the best option(s) for you.

Remember, you can only submit a new application to change prescription plans or terminate existing coverage between October 15, and December 31, each year. I suggest you have us review your needs to be certain your prescription drugs are covered under the 2010 plan and your out-of-pocket exposure is known before next years’ coverage goes into effect on January 1, 2010. We look forward to hearing from you!

Please use the form below to electronically submit your drugs to us and we will respond shortly with the appropriate part D plans.

Time to review your Medicare prescription drug plan!

Pill bottleIt’s a great time of year to begin thinking about a review of your Medicare Part D coverage. Plan availability, cost of coverage and medications can change from one year to the next…so it’s prudent to review your personal needs at least annually to make certain that last year’s plan is best for this year’s needs.

The annual Medicare Prescription Drug open enrollment period will soon be upon us and presents the only opportunity for one to change their plan for the upcoming year. As a matter of fact the Medicare website and your 2009, “Medicare & You” handbook suggest that you prepare and compare your plans in October, change plans (if necessary)between November 15th and December 31st and begin your new coverage (If you’ve made a change on January 1st).

Presently there are 56 Medicare Part D plans in California.  Almost certainly…the 2009 plans will cost more, have higher co-pays or cause you to have additional out-of-pocket expense. However, sometimes you get lucky and discover a better situation…(personal example) in 2007 my mother was taking 2 brand and 6 generic.

So, I researched her new meds on the Medicare website and discovered a new plan more suitable (covered all her generic meds at a$0 co-pay), but also a lot less in premium ($22/mth).

To be certain you continue to get the most for your Medicare part D insurance dollar, I recommend you complete our prescription worksheet, send by email, fax or mail and allow us to review your needs. Shortly thereafter we’ll tell you you’re good as is or suggest alternatives more suitable to your current situations.
